Complaint about comet, help and advice please, screen burn and bad advice.?

hi! last june i bought ia th-37px60b panasonic hdtv from comet. when i asked in store for advice i told them i wanted it to play hd computer games primarily my xbox360,i told them money was no object and that i wanted the best one for gaming. they told me it was out of my panasonic or the samsung one.I went for the panasonic and it cost 拢1700! as soon as i got it home i found out about screen burn,i got it bad and had to have an engineer out twice,he told me to turn my settings to lower brightness! the problem still remains, also i found out today that this set doesnt support 1080p definition but the samsung did. they advised about neither of these issues. i complained today an requested another engineer about the screen burn. i asked if i could change the set as i feel i was ill advised and this tv cant play the xbox at its optimum(1080p).they said off record that i had no chance but going to phone me tomorrow. where do i stand and what should i do? i dont want this tv! i feel cheatedComplaint about comet, help and advice please, screen burn and bad advice.?
ok so the tv is within the manufactors warranty, comet will act as an agent for panasonic.

BUT no-one will reslove your screen burn, as eveyone in the chain will point out, that in the INSTRUCTIONS it WARNS you about screen burn and how to avoid. Gaming should only be done on a couple of hours before changing channels, temp levels turned down, brightness turned down.

SO TO GIVE IT TOO YOU STRAIGHT, but it is down to the owner to read the instructions manual.

You might be lucky and get something back, but the tv is no longer available so they can't swap it.

I would definitely get some legal advice on this due to the value of the set you bought. You can't argue that it's not fit for the purpose that it's intended because presumably it does everything else that it should, but you have been mis-sold the item and should definitely have some sort of come back for it. I would get hold of a solicitor first thing tomorrow - they will be able to give you some basic advice over the phone, free of charge.

If it were me I'd fight to the bitter end. Too many of us lie down and take this kind of thing and it's got to stop. Go get em tiger.
All of us seem to have problems with 'Commet', I had 6 faulty tv's delivered and sent them all back but they insist on trying to repair them. I was wrongly advised about a digital box (it has never been on the tv for 2yrs).

Everyone else I know have had damaged fridges, freezers, washers etc., etc., the list is endless - and every time they are told that they will send someone to repair it........

For goodness sake - we are purchasing a new item and expect a new, working, undamaged item......

I dread having to buy anything new now!!!

Disagree with everything they say and demand a refund.
the law says that goods must be fit for the purpose.

you have a case. check with trading standards.
Learning the hard way is tough. I'm sure they will come up with some excuse not to take care of the problem. Unlike Sears, you can take a tool back to them and they will replace it with asking why! We need better customer service like Sears.
You were. Salesmen lie. They just want to make a sale. I don't know what consumer law is in the UK.
Wow.......LAST JUNE. That's 9 months.....

Don't expect a refund.

Everybody knows the old adage ';Let the BUYER BEWARE!';

That was your responsibility.....

I'm sorry to give you the bad news, but this is where you stand and this is what you should do in the future.....

For GAMING it's either the LCD OR DLP TV sets you should purchase....but everybody knows that.
